Our Story

We are husband-and-wife team, Gianni and Aleksandra. We started Gianni’s in 2017 because we wanted to share our love and passion for food with the residents of Eastbourne and surrounding areas.

Our popular, family-run restaurant sits proudly in Victoria Place, in the heart of the dining quarter of the town, close to the seafront and a short walk from the Beacon. Our slightly-out-of-town location is perfect for enjoying a more ‘Italian pace of life’. We are very open and welcoming.

You’ll feel right at home in our cosy, comfortable restaurant. We create a relaxed atmosphere and offer great customer service.

Family

We’re like an extended family at Gianni’s. Aleksandra is our front of house maestro and Gianni is our head chef, while the rest of our team make us proud with their hard work and dedication.

Our food is tasty, honest, home-made, and delicious. We are part of the Guild of Fine Foods and the Ice Cream Alliance and only use the finest and freshest ingredients to create our dishes (and add a whole heap of Italian style!). There is a real element of Italy in what we do, and we bring a taste of Gianni’s home-town of Alatri, in the Lazio region of Italy, to Eastbourne.

You can enjoy mouth-watering Italian classics, including pasta dishes, pizza, and risotto. But mama mia, if you’re looking for something extra special, then our Pinsa Romana is a must-try.

Pinsa

We like to think of Pinsa as The Godfather of pizza. We’re the ONLY restaurant in the whole of the UK with a qualification (#154) to make authentic Pinsa dough.

Using a recipe which is based on one used in Roman Italy, by mixing Pinsa flour (a blend of rice, soya and whey) with water and a pinch of salt. Once rested, we hand-stretch the dough (Pinsa means stretch in Latin!) into a traditional oval shape. We then smother with rich tomato sauce, generous helpings of mozzarella, and your choice of topping.

After a few minutes in the oven, this deliciously sweet and crispy delight is ready to serve. So, when in Rome, do as we do and have a Pinsa!

GELATO

If you still have room for dessert, then we have over 20 great flavours of our own home-made artisan Gelato and fresh fruit sorbets for you to indulge in. We are part of the Ice Cream Alliance and we’re constantly developing flavours, so there will be plenty for you to try!

The Gianni’s experience is lasting, so whether you’d like to sit and relax while sipping an espresso, you’d like a light bite for lunch, or you’re thinking of bringing your family or friends, you’ll be made to feel very welcome and want to come back time and again.

For an authentic taste of Italy in the heart of Eastbourne, choose Gianni’s.

As soon as you walk through the door, we want you to feel at home, be able to relax and eat good food. We aim to provide the best, friendly and professional service to elevate our customers’ experience so that Gianni’s is THE place they want to come back to time and again. So whether you join us for a casual lunch, family occasion or a dinner date, we are the place to visit.

Our Partners

Authenticity and quality of produce sourced by us, localisation and promotion of fellow great local producers such as Folkington’s are very important for us. We source the best Italian produce ourselves from the Lazio Region of Italy, quite often going as far as importing them on our own. We are proud to be working with products of highly recognised brands and one of the UK’s biggest Italian provision supplier.
